EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS): a Research Study for NYU Libraries

The practicum team endeavored to do user testing on two interfaces to measure which one is friendlier and usable than the other. One is the current EDS search interface and the other is a potential developed interface. The team used Qualtrics to do guerrilla testing on the two interfaces. The data was collected from 55 participants in one afternoon and analyzed after completion. Testers determined that the majority of participants began their search using the search boxes, in both interfaces, but users were unclear on what resources were included in the query. For the next iteration, testers will include a search box in the interface, and add language around the box to describe what is included in the research.
